OVERDUE MAKEOVER: This weekend we worked around the homestead. The adding-a-closet-in-the-master project is winding down, and our attentions turn toward righting an overdue wrong. Specifically, removing CJ's "granny" wallpaper.
Truth be told, it's not really fair to any granny anywhere to call it 'granny' wallpaper.
The nasty old vinyl stuff was soooooooo stuck to the walls, there was no getting it off. Seriously. We tried everything.
So, we had to rip all the darn wallboard off instead. Eight huge demo bags going to the landfill thanks to the ugly wallpaper. Sigh.
The good news is, ripping out the walls only took two hours (BTW, that's exactly how long I said it would take), and we already have new insulation in the walls (for soundproofing), and the new wallboard up. Yay! Still have to mud and tape it, but it already looks light years better!
GOING SOLO: Thursday night, we drove into the city against rush hour coming out to head to Cinerama for "Solo," the latest movie in the Star Wars franchise.
We were fortunate enough to get tickets to the very first showing of it at a state of the art theater, Cinerama.
It was so much fun! We were with our people (the hardcore Star Wars geeks), many of them in full costume!
The movie? LOVED IT!!! So happy Disney is keeping the Star Wars franchise alive and well.
DINNER TIME: Saturday night, we made our monthly visit to Teen Feed. We had 20 pounds of chicken on hand, as well as 100-plus shortcakes/biscuits, several pounds of strawberries ... and more.
Annabelle made a cute menu sign.
The plates passing by looked so good! Healthy and hearty!
DREAMING: We are approaching a shift of sorts about how and where we spend our time, and are looking for new opportunities to share our time and talents. One non profit that has been on my radar is Birthday Dreams, " a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing joy to homeless children with the gift of a Birthday Party," per their website: https://birthdaydreams.org/ .
What we really want to do is bake some fun cakes and cookies for the parties, but we don't have time to do that this month. However, the nonprofit made this post and given that the HQ is about 10 minutes from our place, I thought, "Hey, we could swing that."
So, I put in for the job and we were 'hired,' lol.
We showed up, and were pointed toward the books and were pretty overwhelmed. :0
However, we plugged away for a couple plus hours, came up with a system and did it!
We look forward to becoming more involved with this nonprofit!
