Terrific Tuesday

ON THE WATERFRONT: Tuesday afternoon, we headed north, to Mukilteo, WA, for a fun lighthouse tour and mini family reunion.

Check out this Fresnel lens in the 'attic' of the lighthouse. ;)
Ironically/tragically, I don't have ANY exterior shots of the lighthouse from that day. I guess my focus was on its interior, and the view from its (somewhat diminutive) tower.
Amazing to think about this lens' journey from Paris 150-plus years ago.
Mukilteo has a ferry terminal, and we saw ferries near and far.

There are a couple of lovely old homes on the lighthouse grounds.

Inside one of them, there is a gift shop, and a mini museum. This guy kinda scared me. He looked real when you peered around the corner.
There were a number of displays, but for whatever reason, this one about Chart Pitt caught my attention. I want to read more about him.
After the lighthouse tour, we took shelter. As in picnic shelter.
There, we caught up with family we hadn't seen in way too long.

We saw planes, trains, and even a space shuttle!

There was lots of live music.

CJ and Annabelle used the back of this sign as a music stand.
Dan and Jean had a song about lighthouses in their repertoire.
 As did Uncle Ken!

There was also some time spent at the playground.
Renee and Jim got into the swing of things.

JUST ONCE MORE: Because four hours outdoors Tuesday afternoon wasn't enough, we stopped at the Mariners' game on the way home, squeezing in one more before their season limps to an end.
We started out in the bullpen, where we visited with a Sheriff's Deputy who has worked Mariners games since the King Dome days. He said he has ZERO interest in retiring, and that the gig is super coveted (no surprise).
We were sitting out in right center field.

 CJ did a little dancing.
And we admired Edgar's newly minted retired number.
In the end, the Rangers walked all over the Mariners.
It has been a long, mostly sad season.

But there's always next year ...

GOING, GOING: Apologies in advance if you don't see a post for a bit. We're going abroad! MPA is traveling to the UK, France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany, and Luxembourg. Family will be holding down the fort (and tending the dogs and fish) here on campus.

We have castles and war memorials and space museums in our very near future. So excited!
